DOULA SERVICES

WHAT IS A DOULA?

As a dedicated doula, my role is to accompany women during the labor process, offering guidance and support to ensure a safe and fulfilling birth experience. Throughout my extensive experience in this field, I prioritize creating a calm and nurturing atmosphere for both the birthing individual and their family. I understand the significance of this life transition into MOTHERHOOD and endeavor to provide the utmost support during this profound journey. Drawing upon my knowledge and expertise, I offer emotional support, physical comfort, and act as a liaison between the birthing person and the medical staff. By facilitating effective communication, I strive to equip you with the necessary information to make informed decisions as they arise during labor. Moreover, as your doula, I provide reassurance, offer valuable perspective to both you and your partner, suggest techniques to progress labor, and assist with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other comfort-enhancing methods. It is important to note that as an independent and self-employed doula, my allegiance lies with you, the birthing individual, rather than your healthcare provider or hospital. My sole objective is to serve you and support your specific needs throughout the birthing process.

MASSAGE

I am a licensed and insured massage therapist. As I understand that pregnancy can be quite taxing on the body before and after birth, massage can be an excellent comfort measure to incorporate into your birthing experience.

Research shows prenatal massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Massage therapy can even be used as a natural labor inducer as well!

The Traditional Moroccan Closing Bones Ceremony in postpartum is a culturally rich and deeply symbolic ritual designed to support the physical and emotional well-being of a new mother. Rooted in ancient customs, this ceremony involves the use of specially crafted warm herbal poultices and aromatic oils to massage and bind the mother's body. The process aims to restore balance, promote healing, and provide comfort to the postpartum woman, addressing both the physical strains of childbirth and the spiritual aspects of the transition to motherhood. Accompanied by prayers and blessings, the Closing Bones Ceremony fosters a sense of community support, nurturing the mother during this significant period of recovery and transformation.

*Basic closings are recommended and can be added for an additional fee ($150) interested,
*If you had a c-section, you may receive closing and any massage after 40 days into your fourth trimester (postpartum).

“I would like to give a HUGE node of appreciation to Jahala! She was my doula and although my labor/delivery didn’t go all the way as planned she was there with me the whole way. Girl I’m still shook but nonetheless grateful. Thank you again”
